Learning Forward (formerly the National Staff Development Council) is an international association of learning educators focused on increasing student achievement through more effective professional development. Our membership exceeds 13,000 and includes superintendents, central office administrators, principals, teacher leaders, and technical assistance providers.
Featured program (Supported by AVDF and MetLife Foundation)
The Learning School Alliance (http://www.learningforward.org/alliance/index.cfm) is the place where research and theory translate into best practice. Launched in 2009, the Alliance identifies schools to become part of a two-year community committed to improving student achievement through challenging professional development.
Today 55 schools representing 24 states, one Canadian province, and one American territory participate in one of two Alliance cohorts. Ten high schools and one middle school are supported by AVDF. Learning Schools meet in face-to-face and virtual networks for purposeful study and application of professional learning community strategies.
