The WJCT Local Journalism Initiative – Phase III will expand the editorial capabilities and local audience for Jacksonville Today in the face of the continued erosion of local news and civic information sources. Following on from phases I and II, during which important editorial, technical, and business resources were added, the Jacksonville Today e-mail newsletter was launched (fall 2021) and a full local news website was launched one year later (fall 2022), with audiences for both services growing dramatically. Phase III will add vital additional reporting capabilities, embrace emerging technologies to enhance our products, explore adding new product offerings in the Jacksonville Today lineup, and significantly expand audience size and engagement.
