This proposed initiative would build on nearly a decade of state-level conversations around transfer and articulation, as well as previous efforts by private colleges and consortia across the country that have successfully developed such curricular pathways. To date, Oregon Alliance member colleges have engaged in curricular pathways conversations, but efforts have been piecemeal rather than systematic or systemic; some of the institutions have developed articulation agreements with selected community colleges or programs, and others conduct course-level degree audits and approvals for transfer students. Working together, the Oregon Alliance seeks to create and build on existing consortium-level degree pathways that ensure students’ ability to transfer credits from a community college to a liberal arts program at an Alliance member institution in a clear, efficient, and consistent manner, paving the way to timely completion of bachelor’s degree programs.
